Pick-up location / Airport shuttle / Other means of transport

Q. Where can I pick up the vehicle?

A. The vehicle should be picked up at the Evertrail office in Okinawa City.

Q. Is there a pick-up service from the Airport? How does it work? How do I book it, and how much does it cost?

A. Yes, there is a shuttle from the Airport car park to the Evertrail office. It costs ¥7000 for two people, one way. Airport shuttle can be reserved at the time of the vehicle rental booking. It is possible to also request it after the booking has been made, but availability depends on availability of staff as we have other bookings to attend to. Airport shuttle times are from 10:00am - 17:30pm.

Q. Is there alternative transport to the Evertrail office besides the shuttle?

A. Yes, the 111 and 117 bus runs from the airport along the expressway. If the customer chooses to take the bus, a free pick-up service can be provided (depending on avalibility) from the Kita interchange stop to the Evertrail office. The bus takes about 1 hour (depending on traffic) and costs ¥1330 per person. The customer will purchase the bus ticket on the bus. The free pick-up can be requested via email once the vehicle rental booking has been made. The bus runs frequently and straight from the Airport to a 10 minute walk from the Evertrail office, we recommend taking this option.

Office hours / Pick-up and drop-off times

Q. What is the earliest pick-up and drop-off?

A. The earliest pick-up from the Evertrail office is from 9:30 am. The latest drop-off at the Evertrail office is 18:00 pm.

Q. Can I be earlier or later than the agreed-upon time for returning the vehicle?

A. Unfortunately, it is not always possible for someone to be in the office, as we have other customers to attend to. A request will have to be made either by telephone or email, and we will reply whether or not we can accommodate the changes. A fee may be charged to cover any extra staff wages

Q. What is the minimum number of days I can rent a vehicle?

A. The minimum number of days is 2 days, 1 night.

Late / Cancellations / Refunds

Q. What is the cancellation and refund policy?

  • Cancellation and refund policy is as follows:

  • 2 months prior (60 days) to booking - full return

  • 1 month prior (30-59 days) - 80% return

  • 1 week prior - (7-29 days) - 60% return

  • 5-6 days prior - 50% returned

  • 3-4 days prior - 20%

  • 1-2 days prior - 0%

In case of any delays or expected lateness, such as flight delays or unforeseen circumstances, kindly inform us in advance either through email or a phone call. This allows us to make necessary arrangements to manage other pickups, drop-offs, or attend to other customers promptly. Depending on the circumstances, there may be a potential fee associated with the situation.

If the customer has booked an airport shuttle and does not show 30 minutes after the agreed-upon time, the shuttle will leave, and the customer will be required to find other means of transport to the Evertrail office. No refunds.

Rules / Regulations / Requirements

Q. What kind of driver's license do I need to drive an Evertrail vehicle?

A. Either a Japanese or international driver's license. SOFA license is also accepted.

Q. What age do I have to be to drive an Evertrail vehicle?

A. A minimum age of 21 is required for all drivers, and all drivers must be present at the time of renting the vehicle.

Q. What other information/identity cards will be required?

A. For foreign customers living in Japan, either a copy of their Zairyu card or Passport will be taken at the Evertrail office. For those traveling Japan and not residing, a passport copy shall be taken. For Military in Okinawa, if a passport is not available, military I.D will be accepted.

Q. Will a deposit be required?

A. No, a deposit is not universally required. The application of a deposit depends on several factors, such as your visa status, rental history, etc. For detailed information and to determine if a deposit will be necessary in your specific case, please contact our customer service team who will be happy to assist you with your inquiries and guide you through the rental process.

Q. Are the vehicles pet-friendly?

A. For an extra fee, we can accommodate pets in some cases. Please enquire for more information!

Q. Can I take the cars off-roading?

A. The vehicles are prohibited from being taken off-roading or on any beaches not specified by Evertrail. This is for the customer's safety and to avoid any damages to the vehicle. With the tides rising and falling, there are incidents where cars parked on beaches get swallowed up by the high tide.

Insurance policy

Q. What kind of insurance is included with the rental?

A. All Evertrail vehicles come with fully comprehensive insurance. In the event of a crash for which the customer is at fault, liability for damages and loss of earnings is capped at ¥150,000. This liability can be reduced to as low as ¥0 based on the optional insurance waiver selected during the rental booking. Please note that camping goods or equipment are not covered by the vehicle insurance, and the customer is responsible for any repairs or replacement of lost, broken, or stolen items.

Camping in Okinawa

Q. Where am I able to camp in Okinawa?

A. Okinawa is a beautiful camping haven! There is an abundance of campsites with great amenities and even better views. Depending on whether you want to see sunrises or sunsets, shooting stars or fall asleep listening to the calming noise of the waves breaking on the reef, there's a place for you! Evertrail staff are equipped with all the knowledge to recommend you a great place to pitch up for the night and make this a trip you'll never forget. For more local spots or for wild camping, ask the Evertrail staff for a recommendation. To make your trip run even smoother, on request, Evertrail can also go ahead and book campsites on your behalf!

Q. What are toilet and shower protocols?

A. All paid campsites in Okinawa have hot water for showers and toilets! For those who would like to use free campsites off the beaten track, all Evertrail vehicles come with a small shower system. When your fresh water runs out, simply top it up at any campsite, combini, or shop that will accommodate you! Because of the size limit, Evertrail vehicles are not equipped with toilets. But like mainland Japan, you're never too far from a convenience store with free toilets! Or if you're out in the wilderness, as long as you don't leave a mess or litter behind, get creative!

Q. What luggage am I able to take?

A. Depending on the size of your bag, Evertrail will provide you with bags to take on your camping voyage! Anything you can't fit or won't need can be left at the Evertrail office for your return.

Q. How many people can ride in the car?

A. Each vehicle is limited to two people.

Q. Are the vehicles manual or automatic?

A. All Evertrail vehicles are automatic transmission.

Q. What comes included in the car?

A. Except for food and drink, everything you need to camp out of the vehicle will be provided.
